Shortly a flat white is stronger but with less foam than cappuccino. The radio espresso-milk-foam for cappuccino is 1:3:2 and for flat white 2:3:1

Hi Tanya,
I have learned that a cappuccino is made of; one single espresso shot, the same amount of warm milk and the same amount of warm milk foam. A flat white is made of; a double espresso and warm milk foam. But as with all of these different drinks there seem to be all kinds of way to serve them. :-)

Hi Tanya,
Both coffee drinks feature the combination of milk and espresso and may come off as the same drink. However, the preparation of the milk used for each beverage is different.
The milk for a cappuccino is usually aerated longer to create a large amount of froth. This explains why we usually see a mount of froth on top of your coffee. Generally, it has the same foam and milk content.
Meanwhile, a flat white offers milk steamed just long enough to produce the right amount of microfoam which is essential for latte art. Also, ristretto shots are used in flat white orders in most coffeehouses.
