To make an Americano with the Breville Barista, start by filling the water tank with cold water. Next, insert a portafilter filled with ground coffee into the machine. Make sure to tamp the grounds down before you start brewing.
To begin brewing, press the power button and then wait for the green light to turn on. This means that the machine is heated up and ready to use. Once the light turns on, open up the steam valve and wait for it to hiss loudly. Once it does, close it back up and wait for the light above it to turn off, which indicates that the machine is now ready to brew coffee.
Open up the drip tray and fit a cup underneath it. In about 20-30 seconds, you'll see a small stream of coffee coming out of the machine. This is your espresso shot. Once it's finished, quickly pull out the portafilter and add hot water to fill up your cups (about 2 ounces each). It's done! Enjoy it.
