Hi Joachim, using a Sunbeam Cafe Barista Espresso Machine takes a few steps. Still, once you get some practice, it’s pretty convenient.
First, fill the water reservoir. It’s better to use filtered or mineral water. Avoid using tap water because it tends to be harder. As a result, you’ll need to descale the machine more often.
Turn the machine on by pressing the red button in the base below the water reservoir. The buttons in the front panel will blink until the machine boiler is hot enough to start brewing coffee.
If you’re going to make milk coffee, detach the milk reservoir and fill it accordingly. Then, slide it in back, securely.
Select your favorite froth level. The thinner the mark, the less foam you’ll get.
Add milk to the separate milk reservoir. Direct the milk spout towards the cup. It’s essential to use an angle below 75° pointing to the internal sidewall of the cup. If not, the milk frother will make a mess.
The machine comes with a basket for a single espresso and another for a double espresso. For the espresso, choose your basket first. Then, add ground coffee and tamp. Remember to leave a 3 mm gap between the coffee grounds and the rim. Don’t worry; it’s the level mark the portafilter has inside. You just need to pay attention to that mark while adding coffee and tamping.
Place the portafilter in place and twist it to lock it in.
If you’re using a small cup, remember to use the appropriate tray.
After putting the cup below the portafilter, select your drink. You can choose between espresso, cappuccino, and latte. For each option, you can have a single or double serving. You need to push the button once for a single serving, and for a double serving, you need to press the button twice.
Suppose you prefer to make your drink manually instead of automatically. In that case, you can press the appropriate button and hold for a few seconds.
After serving your drink, remove the portafilter, empty it and remove the basket. It’s essential to clean the portafilter and the basket with hot soapy water and rinse them thoroughly. You can use a brush or a cloth to clean it more deeply and quickly. Avoid harsh materials that could damage the basket and portafilter.
You can use the machine’s built-in cleaning system to clean the milk spout. Simply adjust the knob to clean mode. Now, push and hold the clean mode button. The machine will flush the spout with hot water. If you add too much milk to the container, you can put the milk reservoir in the fridge. You can remove the tray to clean it as well.
Remember to turn off the machine after using it. And that’s it.
Enjoy your cup of coffee!
