So, whether you’ve already purchased a Mr Coffee coffee maker for yourself or just want to find out more about it before you go out and buy one, here are some things that might go wrong and how to deal with them.
What is a Mr Coffee Coffee Machine?

How to Use the Delay Brew Function
Mr Coffee coffee makers have a delay brew function included that allows you to set the coffee machine to start brewing a fresh cup of coffee at a certain time. Whether you want to set your machine to start brewing first thing in the morning so that you can wake up to the smell of fresh coffee or like to enjoy a cup of coffee on your lunch break while you are working from home, you can set the machine to brew at any time that suits you best, and it’s a really easy feature to use.
First of all, press the hour and minute buttons to set the right time on your coffee machine if needed. While the Set Delay step may vary depending on your model, most will have a button for it present on the machine. All you need to do is press the button and change the hour and minute time just like changing the time, until you get to the time that you want. This should light up the delay button and then the time will go back to the time it is right now. Bear in mind that the Mr Coffee pot doesn’t store this information, so you’ll need to set it daily.
Coffee Overflowing Problem
If your coffee is overflowing when you use your Mr Coffee coffeemaker, then the answer to this problem isn’t always straightforward. You’ll need to check different options to find out what’s causing it. This is an issue that can happen with lots of different brands of coffee makers.
First of all, check that the machine is clean. To keep your coffee maker working correctly, you’ll need to go through the Mr Coffee cleaning process on a regular basis. If you are still having the same issue after cleaning the machine, check the amount of ground coffee that you are using, and the type. There are various types of ground coffee that might cause your machine to overflow. Another common cause is that the grounds are too fine. Switching to a medium-coarse grind might help with this issue.
Coffee Grounds in the Coffee
Mr Coffee drip coffee makers might have an issue with the filter if there are coffee grounds in the coffee. However, if you do not need any Mr Coffee replacement parts and your filter is fine, then check you are not using grounds that are too fine. Fine grounds might be more likely to pass through the filter completely and end up in your coffee cup instead.
Another issue may be that your filter is too full. Try brewing a smaller amount of coffee at a time to see if this makes a difference. You may also want to try wetting the top of the filter all the way around before placing it in the machine. You may also want to consider trying a different fuse in the plug, if other appliances have worked while switched into the same socket. Check the power cord on the Mr Coffee maker to make sure that it is not damage. If your cord is wound too tightly, this might prevent it from working effectively, so it’s worth seeing if straightening it out will help. Don’t plug the machine back in if you notice any damage – instead, get in touch with Mr Coffee to order the replacement parts that you need.
Needs Cleaning
You will need to know how to clean a Mr Coffee coffee maker since Mr Coffee cleaning is often needed to fix a wide range of problems. If you are dealing with your Mr Coffee not brewing and the cleaning light is on, then you will need to go through the cleaning and descaling process before you can use it again. Cleaning a Mr Coffee coffee pot involves a number of steps. You will need to follow all of them to make sure that your machine is able to work correctly.
Ideally, you should have a simple cleaning process to follow after making each cup of coffee. Keep on top of the cleaning by cleaning the carafe with mild dish soap after use and emptying and rinsing your filter basket between each cup. Wipe the coffee machine down daily and pay attention to the spray heads – for your machine to work correctly, they should be blockage-free and clean. You should also regularly clean the spout that coffee is poured from into the carafe, as if this isn’t clean your machine will not be working effectively.
Once or twice a month depending on how often you use your machine, you will also need to run a deeper cleaning process to prevent the build-up of mineral deposits in the internal components of the machine. Over time, these hard water deposits can prevent your coffee machine from working correctly. You can do this with a descaling solution or white vinegar. To use white vinegar, simply mix equal parts water and white vinegar and pour this into the coffee machine as if you were about to brew a cup of coffee. Then, either press the clean function or run the machine as if you were brewing coffee two or three times to clean everything out. Finally, flush the machine by running just water through it to remove any remaining vinegar or descaling solution.
Troubleshooting When Not Working
If you’re dealing with a Mr Coffee not working or Mr Coffee not brewing, it could be down to a range of potential reasons. The good news is that there is no need to panic if your Mr Coffee won’t brew since it is usually a simple and easy fix. The first thing to do is check the power supply. If this seems fine, then the next step is to go through a deep cleaning cycle as sometimes the machine may fail to work if it is not clean enough.
After cleaning, if your machine still won’t work, check that there isn’t too much coffee in the filter and that your water reservoir has enough water in it. Make sure that the filter is securely fixed and that the carafe is correctly positioned underneath the spout, as the machine will not pour coffee if it isn’t assembled correctly.
Once you have checked all these, if the machine still won’t work, you can get in touch with Mr Coffee to get advice and report the issue. They will either be able to give you specific repair advice for your model or send out replacement parts if needed.
