How Much Caffein In Bang Energy Drinks
One of the most famous pre-workout energy drinks in the market right now, BANG energy drinks are running out of stock in grocery stores.
It can be seen all around on social media platforms and fitness influencers talk about it often. It gives that energy boost to go through the day and ace your workouts without worrying about extra sugar or calories. Because it's high in caffeine, it gives an increase in energy and motivates you to complete tasks. But to make up for that, it also comes with a remarkable mix of vitamins. But is it truly healthy?
Health Concerns of Energy Drinks
Most energy drinks are known to be a shock to your system as they contain huge amounts of sugar and caffeine. The sudden spike of energy and increased alertness are followed by a brutal crash which leaves you worse off than before. Some of these energy drinks are nothing better than soda. So, a can of sugar and artificial flavors isn't going to do your body a lot of favors.
BANG is supposed to be the exact opposite of these drinks in terms of nutritional value and is still supposed to have the same energizing effect. To prove that, let's look at the nutritional facts of a 16-ounce can of BANG :
- 0 calories
- 0 grams of fat
- 0mg of cholesterol
- 40mg sodium
- 85mg potassium
- 0 grams of carbohydrate
- 0 grams of fiber
- 0 grams of sugar
- 0 grams of protein
- 50% DV of Vitamin C
- 25% DV of Niacin
- 25% DV of Vitamin B6
- 25% DV of Vitamin B12
- 2% DV of Magnesium
Other Drinks in Comparison With BANG Energy
Energy drinks in the market pack up to 260 calories and 60 grams of sugar per can. Frequently choosing such drinks to consume can pose a serious health hazard. Regular consumption can lead to an increased risk of cancer, heart diseases, and type 2 diabetes. The American Heart Association suggests up to 24 grams of sugar per day for women and 36 grams for men. Every gram of sugar can contain four calories, and a standard can of an energy drink can make up 95% of the daily recommended sugar intake. Clearly, BANG energy drink is a massive improvement.
Caffeine Properties in BANG
Similar to other energy drinks, BANG has a shockingly high caffeine content of 300 mg in every serving. This makes it one of the strongest energy drinks in the market. It gives a big energy boost to stay awake and alert for doing tasks or even burning the midnight oil.
However, this much caffeine isn't appropriate for everyone. To compare, a shot of espresso has caffeine ranging from 60-100mg. That's a third of the caffeine content as compared to a serving of BANG.
Those who are sensitive to caffeine can get jittery or even worse. The FDA recommends up to 400mg of caffeine per day, and BANG pretty much gives you all that in one go. There are also many other side effects of increased caffeine intake like:
- Anxiety
- Headaches
- Insomnia
- Increased heart rate
- Nausea
- Shakiness
- Stomachaches
The caffeine content in every BANG drink may vary by a bit.
Since the energy drink is available internationally, in New Zealand and Australia the drink has about 160 mg of caffeine, while in Canada, BANG has about 180 mg per can.

Versions of BANG Energy Drink
1. BANG energy shot- this 3-ounce shot is high in caffeine and is recommended for a quick energy rush or as a pre-workout drink. In just a shot, there's a whopping 300 mg of caffeine. It became the high selling energy shot in 2020, and unlike others, its caffeinated. It's also available in the flavors mentioned above.
2. BANG natural: the BANG drink that has less caffeine. The natural BANG has 250 mg as compared to the 300mg in classic. In contrast to other BANG drinks, caffeine in the natural variant is extracted from coffee beans and isn't synthetic caffeine anhydrous.
3. BANG keto coffee: This is a completely different version of the classic BANG energy drink and is targeted at those on the keto diet. It still contains 300 mg of caffeine but has an added whey protein concentrate and milk concentrate, making up to 20 grams of protein. The coffee isn't just an added flavor but is from the actual coffee extract. It's available in the following flavors:
- Birthday Cake Bash
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Blast
- Cookies and Cream Craze
- Heavenly Hazelnut
- Mocha Madness
4. BANG sweet tea: this is a caffeinated iced tea version of the classic BANG energy drink and has 300mg of caffeine. However, it's not carbonated and contains tea extracted from actual black tea. It's available in these flavors:
- Georgia Peach
- Lemon Drop
- Sweet Iced Tea
5. BANG ice cream: another version of caffeinated consumables by BANG, but in ice cream form. The BANG ice cream is a mix of Wisconsin-made super-premium ice cream with added caffeine. It has about 125 mg of caffeine per scoop and is available in the following flavors:
- Peanut Butta,
- Heaps of Gold
- Cookie Mint
- Iced Latte-Da
Caffeine-free BANG
Originally BANG contained about 360 mg of caffeine per can, but after customer feedback, it was lowered to 300 mg. Apart from being healthy and being marketed as a pre-workout drink, it's also considered a fat loss aid and energy stimulator for training.
BANG is famous for its caffeine boost but some prefer it for its flavors and tastes, with the added advantage of it being sugar-free. For people who aren’t fans of caffeine, a caffeine-free version of BANG actually exists! The ingredient list pretty much has all the same ingredients just without caffeine and beta-alanine, which is a performance-boosting ingredient. It also comes in 3 zero-calorie flavors called Cotton Candy, Sour Heads, and Black Cherry Vanilla.
Coffee vs. BANG energy
Coffee is usually the caffeine fix for many. But with so many energy drinks in the market, is it time to consider making a switch? Which one is eventually better for an energy boost?
The answer, without a doubt, would be coffee. This is because it’s rich in antioxidants and nutrients, which are beneficial to the body. Black coffee is considered one of the healthiest drinks after tea and water and has no calories or artificial chemicals.
Coffee also has a powerhouse of ingredients that reduce chances of cancer, liver diseases, and more. What's more, coffee is completely natural compared to energy drinks which are full of chemicals and artificially produced caffeine.
When it comes to caffeine, one can of BANG energy drink has the caffeine content of about 3-4 espresso shots. Anybody who's not used to that much caffeine can face various side effects like diarrhea, anxiety, high blood pressure, dizziness, and much more. These effects will be much milder when it comes to coffee.
Once in a while, it's okay to go for an energy drink like BANG, but I would recommend choosing coffee for regular consumption as it has many health benefits apart from its caffeine properties. While BANG is sugar-free, the presence of artificial sweeteners and sucrose poses a danger to the human body.
Additionally, the acid present in energy drinks can damage your teeth and stomach and make underlying health concerns much worse. However, it's up to you to choose your drink of choice, and it's okay to indulge every now and then.
