A fantastic machine with smart features to make the smoothest and tastiest coffee, almost at a professional level, the Breville Bambino Plus is something you need. It'll make your day with delicious coffee and your home smell similar to a cafe. One of the best coffee makers around, the Breville Bambino Plus is compact and yet comes with numerous features to brew incredible espressos or froth milk to perfection.
Once you've got your hands on the machine, it can be a bit too tedious to put all the accessories and parts together. Keep in mind that you must rinse the machine pipes before you use them, as mentioned in the manual.
The look of the machine
The Breville Bambino Plus has a bright finish, and by the looks of it, resembles a premium machine. It also has a steam warmer close to the portafilter. The coffee machine comes with four filter baskets for different types of coffee grounds. How fancy is that?
Tools and accessories
The Breville Bambino Plus includes a milk jug, cleaning tools, a removable portafilter, and a water filter to improve the taste of your coffee.
When it comes to making good espresso, a lot of factors are involved, and one of them is making sure that the coffee grounds are compact in the filter basket. To ensure this, the Breville Bambino Plus comes with a metal tamper, and unlike other machines, the tamper is not attached to the machine itself. This makes it easier to apply force on the grounds.
What you'll find convenient as well is that other machines usually have plastic tampers, whereas this one has a metal one allowing you better grip and sturdiness. The machine has a tool called "the razor", included to level off one's coffee grounds and expertly make the smoothest espresso.
Milk frothing and other functions
The Breville Bambino Plus takes only three seconds to heat up and just a click to switch between a one-cup or two-cup brew.
And when it comes to milk frothing, all you need to do is select your choice of temperature or texture, the machine provides three levels. The one thing that needs to be highlighted here is that this machine lets you take complete control over how you like your coffee during the coffee-making process. For example, it lets you manually texturize your milk or do it automatically.
Cleaning the machine
One of the most difficult tasks for anybody who owns a coffee machine is cleaning it. Now you'd be glad to know that this machine is pretty easy to clean when it comes down to it.
Every time you froth your milk when you make your coffee, you simply need to lift up the milk jug and remove the wand to give it a wipe. As it goes into the rest position, the wand automatically purges hot water into the drip to clear out any milk residue from the pipes. This makes everything clean and tidy, and for you, it means that all you have to do is give the drip tray a rinse after every use. Even the filter basket locks into the portafilter pretty easily, so everything stays in place when you need to empty the coffee grounds without making a mess.
To illustrate how convenient this machine is, here's a quick run-through to make a shot of espresso.
- First, choose between two cup or one cup, depending on how much you need.
- Then put your grounds in the basket using the tamper to compress it into the filter.
- Now you take out any excess with the razor tool provided.
- Once done, you can place the filter basket in the portafilter and lock it in place.
- In just 20-25 seconds, your espresso will be brewed and ready.
- What you can expect is a smooth cup of espresso with a thick layer of crema on top.
Cons
While it is very close to perfect, it does have a few drawbacks.
It's available in various colors depending on your location. In the US you may have more choices while the UK and Australia have just three to choose from.
The Breville Bambino Plus promises the smoothest and tastiest cup of coffee but what it does not offer is the option to grind your beans. It also does not have the automatic switch-off feature, instead, you'll have to hold down two buttons to switch it off.
This machine may not be easy on the pocket, several alternatives can be found in the market if you desire something cheaper.
The Verdict
