Intrepid explorers from Minas Gerais and São Paulo fell in love with the fertility and topography of the land where Fazenda California now sits. On the 23ºS Latitude, the weather was cooler than traditional coffee-growing areas and had four well-defined seasons. Our coffee farm has always been at the cutting edge of the latest research, yet nurtured with a timeless attention to detail. This confluence has earned the estate its well-earned reputation as a producer of some of the finest coffee grown. Our estate continues to grow from its glorious past into a bright, sustainable and flavorful future.

Our Passion Spans A Century

Fazenda California was set up in 1903s with extensive planning and technical inputs from the University Of California. Not only has the farm been loved by its owners, workers and visitors, moviegoers were charmed by  its beauty in the 1964 movie, Pão de Açúcar, (English: Instant Love) which was shot here. Over the decades, Fazenda California’s fame grew and attracted the recently-wedded agronomist couple, Flávia and Luiz Saldanha Rodrigues, who bought the estate in 2004. Since then, they have worked ceaselessly to harness  the latest innovations in seedling production, microorganism-based root health solutions, plant care and processing..
